Biography:

Huma Kureshi was born on July 28, 1986 in Delhi. Her father is a restaurant owner and runs a chain of about 10 restaurants called Saleem’s, all in Delhi, and his mother is a housewife. Her brother – Sakib Salim is also a film actor. He starred in the movie Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. There are two more brothers – Naim Kureshi and Hasin Kureshi.

Huma Kureshi is a professional theater actress in Delhi, she has worked with theater directors such as Jay Singh Chauhan, Sohayla Kapoor, Rahul Pulkeshi and NK Sharma from Act One Group. She later moved to Mumbai and began appearing in television commercials. She has starred in nearly 15 commercials for brands like Vita Marie, Saffola Oil, Mederma Cream, Samsung Guru, Pears Soap and Nerolac.

While working on television, Huma attracted considerable attention, especially participating in the filming of commercials with such popular actors as Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan. During filming for commercials with Aamir Khan, Bollywood director Anurag Kashiyap said he would invite her to his next project.

Kashiyap kept his promise, giving her a supporting role in the thriller “Gangs of Wasseypur”. She played the role of a Muslim girl from a small town of the 90s. The film team, including Huma, presented their work at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, where the film received thunderous applause.

Kureshi was to debut in Tamil cinema, playing a role in the film “Billa II” in a pair with Ajith Kumar (Ajith Kumar). According to sources, she was selected for the role after 700 girls were watched. However, due to the fact that the filming of the film was postponed, she had to leave the project because of her previous obligations.

In 2012, she was awarded the “Special Mention” award by the “Grand Jury” jury at the 2012 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles for her work in the short film “Sujata”.

Before the film “Gangs of Wasseypur” was released, Huma was invited to three more projects. “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana” is a romantic comedy that is presented as the first Bollywood movie about food. “Ek Thi Daayan” is a psychological thriller paired with Emran Hashmi. “D Day” is Nikhil Adwani’s next project. She also performed a dance number in Hindi – a version of the movie “Trishna”, featuring Frida Pinto.
