Adobe Photoshop is the most-widely used graphics designing and editing software. Crafting and creation of different illustrations and vectors could be done conveniently on Adobe Illustrator.

Although Adobe Illustrator seems to be a difficult and tricky graphics software, if proper guidelines are followed, one can create unique and perfect illustrations of nearly everything.

If you’re planning to make a personalized graphic greeting for your loved one, you may want to make the perfect heart illustration. If that’s what has brought you here, you need not worry. This is a step-by-step guide about the creation of a perfect heart illustration. To do so, you first need to create a heart vector and then proceed with further steps.

Create the Heart Vector

Step 1

Create a new web document, select the ellipse tool (L) and make a circle measuring 223 x 223 px. Now, select the top anchor point by using the direct selection tool (A) and then navigate to Object > Transform > Move, move the anchor point to minus 85 px vertically, and finally select OK.

Step 2

Now, distort the top part of this vector. Again select the to point by using the Direct Selection tool (A) to reveal the handles and move them. You need to move each handle separately by holding down the ALT let while dragging each handle. Now, you need to move the bottom part of the main anchor point by selecting it with the Direct Selection tool and then navigating to Object>Transform>Move, but move this point to minus 23px vertically and hit OK.

Step 3

Now you need to select the bottom part of the heart vector and then select the option “Convert selected anchor points to corner option”, navigate to File > Scripts > Round any corner, run this script but select a radius of 10. Follow the same steps for the top point of the heart vector to run the same script again but this time select a radius of 2.

For the above-mentioned script, you need to install the “Round Any Corner Script”.

Add Colour and Depth to Your Heart Vector by using the Mesh Tool

Step 1

Create a copy of the heart vector as you’ll need it later. Select the vector, copy it by using (CTRL + C) command, and then paste it in the back by using (CTRL + B) command.

Now, select the Mesh Tool (U) and click on the bottom anchor point right in the middle to craft the first vertical mesh line. If you want to move the handles, you can do that by using the Direct Selection Tool. Now, using the Mesh Tool, select the spot that’s indicated on the Heart path to generate the second mesh line. Create further mesh lines by following the same steps on the right side of the heart vector.

Step 2

After you are done with generating mesh lines on the right side of the vector, generate vertical mesh lines on the left side of the heart vector. To adjust the curves, you can use the Direct Selection Tool to move some points or handles.

Step 3

Now, you need to generate mesh lines in the heart vector horizontally. The same steps are required to be followed.

Step 4

You will notice that there the mesh lines and points have created small sections and now, you need to fill those sections with the red or pink color of varying intensity.

We are pretty sure that by the end of this guide, you’ll be able to make the perfect heart illustration for the perfect someone!
